POLARIZATION*

THE LIGHT reflected by large flat surfaces (water bodies, glass, asphalt & pavement, metal, etc.) is partially or fully polarized in the horizontal direction. This means that all photons of the rays oscillate (vibrate, fluctuate) in a single plane, but in different directions.
The main reason for using polarized lenses in sunglasses is the fact that the human eye is incapable to differentiate between direct and reflected light.  As a result of this, the colors of the objects we see in reflected and glare lights are not correctly read, thus we differentiate them harder.

Some animals and birds have at times better vision than humans.  For example, an eagle flying at an altitude of 200-300 meters above the terrain is capable very clearly to see a small field mouse on the ground.

WHAT SUNGLASSES WITH POLARIZED LENSES REPRESENT IN FACT?

Polarized lenses were created with the idea to eliminate reflections and to improve the perception of contrast. They remove the stress in the eye nerve (respectively in the brain) and the feeling of discomfort, that appear mostly while driving a car or with other outdoor activities.

The main advantage of polarized glasses is that they selectively absorb the reflected light, and only pass through some of the direct rays. ☛ Read more on Wiki... ☛ Watch on YouTube...

First sunglasses with a polarized filter were made by Polaroid and launched in 1937.  At the beginning, they were being worn mostly by athletes, but the wide public quickly appreciated their advantages, and they became a hit on the market.

◤ Optical science today, as well as the used materials and technologies, have gone far ahead, of course.

SUNGLASSES WITH POLARIZED FILTER ARE RECOMMENDED FOR...

DRIVING & SPORTS

The reflections and glare of the sunlight from certain flat surfaces, such as roofs, shop windows, building walls, massive fences, road pavement, etc., stress the eyes and hinder your concentration on the environment.

Polarized lenses remove this cause of discomfort in the eyes, which appears during longer trips, while practicing sports or any other outdoor activities

with, and without polarization

EVERYONE

Who loves bicycling, hogging in the park, playing tennis on court or beach volleyball, climbs rocks or simply walking around the natural environment, can avail themselves of the advantages of the polarized sunglasses.

The better visibility, provided by them, will allow you to achieve better results in sports and to better enjoy your recreation or playtime.

FISHING AND WATER SPORTS
The polarized sunglasses are an indispensable assistant to fishermen! They eliminate the glare from the water surfaces and allow you to see clearly under the same water surface.
If you love driving, a water jet or water wheel - without such sunglasses the reflections from the sea or lake surface would be very uncomfortable for your eyes, and will surely reduce your pleasure and fun.

CAREFULLY CHOOSE THE LENSES COLOR OF YOUR SUNGLASSES depending on the environment in which you will be wearing them and the activities which you will be performing. Every individual color affects your perceptions in a different way!

GREY LENSES : Their biggest advantage lies in the fact that the colors that you see while wearing them are as close as possible to their natural nuances. Due to this, they do not cause fatigue after wearing them for a long time, which makes them suitable for daily use. They are perfect for maximum reduction of the reflections and glare from intensive sunlight. The most popular lens color in the USA.
BROWN LENSES : The same improve the contrast and sense of depth in the image. They are most suitable for driving and fishing in shallow waters. The lenses with a lighter shade of brown are suitable for wearing in cloudy weather and are suitable for skiers. The color is very popular among fashion designers, since it is considered as underlining the beauty of the face.
GREEN LENSES : They improve slightly the contrast, retain a very good balance of the colors and soothe the eyes - often chosen color for driving.
BLUE LENSES : They allow the passing of the blue light which makes them suitable for sunny to partially cloudy weather. Preferred shade for tennis playing and provide a soothing effect on the eyes.
RED LENSES : They are predominantly chosen by athletes and active people. They are suitable for outdoor bright locations, providing a strong contrast of the image.
ORANGE LENSES : They filter out the blue light and improve the sense of contrast. They are suitable for hunters and marksmen, since the targets are easier to spot through them.
YELLOW LENSES : They also filter out the blue shaded light. They provide a high level of contrast. The same are most often chosen by sporting marksmen. They are recommended for driving on cloudy days and in fog, and it is no coincidence that the fog lights of vehicles are yellow in color.
In France, for example, all the lights (short / long) of the headlamps were obligatory in yellow, but in 1993 the white light rule came into force due to the development of new technologies : halogens, mercury, etc...
THERE ARE CERTAIN DISADVANTAGES USING SUNGLASSES WITH POLARIZED LENSES

If you look at an LCD display at a certain angle throughout such glasses - you will not see anything. In fact, this is one of the easiest ways to check whether your glasses are actually provided with polarized filtering lenses. While looking at a flat reflective surface - turn them around at about 90 degrees. The brightness of the glare should either increase or decrease.  See example ☛

You should not expose them to high temperatures!  Such as on the dashboard under the windshield in the summer when the sun is strong. There is a high probability layers of which the lenses are made to peel off.

POLARIZED LENSES OF THE SUNGLASSES ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR...
SKIERS: Even though they successfully minimize the reflections from the snow, while skiing downhill you might fail to notice iced stretches. Every skier knows what this means.

AVIATION PILOTS: The glares reflected by these glasses might be from another plane or flying object. This is especially important from a safety point of view.  However, it should be noted that these are extremely rare cases.

Advantages of the sunglasses with polarized lenses are numerous.  It is not by chance that all worldwide known manufacturers include them in their collections.
